INNOVATIVE ARCHITECTURAL FIRM JOINS THE MULTIFAMILY HOUSING RESOURCE PROGRAM
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 20, 2013 Today the Equal Rights Center (ERC)—a national non-profit civil rights organization — announced that the architectural firm Devereaux and Associates has joined the ERC’s Multifamily Housing Resource Program (MHRP).
“The Equal Rights Center is proud to welcome Devereaux and Associates to the MHRP,” said Victoria Lanteigne, the ERC’s Corporate Partnerships and Training Program Manager. “As proven innovative architects the team at Devereaux and Associates has demonstrated a commitment to creating designs that promote accessibility and proved, once again, that providing equal opportunity is smart business.”
The McLean-based firm has been recognized as a frontrunner in the creation of innovative architectural concepts for residential, commercial, and recreational projects. With designs highlighting “visitability” and quality in space and form, Devereaux and Associates have had their architectural projects featured in publications such as the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal.
The MHRP is a proactive collaboration between the ERC and industry leaders in multi-family housing development, construction, and management, as well as architectural firms with design expertise, and product or service vendors and subcontractors. With a mission to increase the number of residential housing units in the United States that are accessible to people with disabilities, the MHRP relies upon best practices and employee training.
Devereaux and Associates is the 14th member of the MHRP and joins accessibility firm Steven Winter Associates, Inc. and major multifamily developers, including AvalonBay Communities, The Bozzuto Group, Camden Property Trust, Kettler, The JBG Companies and Trammell Crow Residential in multi-year commitments to work with the ERC to proactively improve and ensure accessibility in housing. Current MHRP members represent more than 600,000 housing units nationwide.
