Do you live in Fairfax County and want to have your voice heard regarding local fair housing concerns? The Equal Rights Center encourages you to review Fairfax County’s newly drafted Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing and provide feedback.
The Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing (AI) is a report published by a state or local government or a public housing agency that receives federal funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The report identifies local barriers that are preventing individuals and families from living in integrated communities free of housing discrimination.
The reports help determine the ways that governments can remove discriminatory barriers to local communities in housing. As such, it is critical that these reports are developed in consultation with local communities impacted by these barriers. The public comment period gives individuals and organizations an opportunity to provide feedback on the report’s content and provide suggested areas of improvement.
The Fairfax County Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (2016-2020) is available online here. You can also review a hard copy at the information desk of all branches of the Fairfax County Public Library system; at the Citizens Information Desk located on the lobby level of the Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia 22035; and at the Information desk at the Department of Housing and Community Development, 3700 Pender Drive, Fairfax, Virginia 22030.
