ERC has long been a leader in the fight to stamp out illegal discrimination against housing voucher holders in the Greater Washington, D.C. region. This source of income case against E&G was one of the ERC’s first. In it, ERC challenged E&G’s “admitted refusal” to accept Housing Choice Vouchers in violation of the D.C. Human Rights Act. The subsequent settlement made 1,500 apartment units in D.C. available to Housing Choice Voucher holders, improving low-income D.C. residents’ ability to access housing.
