K atherine oversees the ERC’s accessibility work for individuals living with a disability. She conducts testing investigations, including site surveys, manages membership and intakes, and serves as an ERC trainer on accessibility issues under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act. Prior to joining the ERC, Kay served as the Executive Director of Independent Living for the Handicapped, Inc., a community based, permanent housing partnership for people with severe disabilities. She also worked as the research coordinator for Diveheart, a nonprofit providing scuba diving opportunities for people with disabilities. Kay has a Masters in Human Environmental Relations from Cornell University, and, as a part of her program, she conducted accessibility audits of hospitals in New York. Katherine also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services & Sociology from The George Washington University.
